Food at both Bloodless and Bullfighting Events

Bullfighting

I am a "food-a-holic". I have to eat wherever I go.

Bloodless Bullfighting Events:
Let's take Artesia bullfights.... now there's a place where they know how to serve great food and party after the fights. My favorite is the "Octopus" dish that they serve with bread. I don't know what it's called, but it sure is excellent! It's got enough zing to zest my taste. Now I'm craving for it. I'm going to have to get the recipe and make it. If anyone knows of the recipe, please list it on our "Recipe" forum.

Since we are normally part of the event, we get to eat with the Cavaleiros, Forcados, Ganaderos, and everyone else who was involved in the event. I look forward to when they feed us. They normally serve fresh beef or pork, with rice, or beans and definitely bread, along with bear, wine and juice. I'm normally not a "carb" eater, but the Portuguese really knows how to make their bread. It's so yummy when it's fresh and soft.

Mexico and Spain Bullfights:
We normally eat prior to a bullfight, but I am always down for a good snackstand, especially where they sell the seasoned mangos and other fruits....yummy! I would say that these events have all the nick nacks and food you want to purchase at a bullfight. From shirts to the seat cushions you sit on.

I enjoyed Spain's shopping carts in front of the arena. It was very touristy... from flamenco dolls to bull dolls to the flags, swords, etc. Umm... only thing I didn't like was that you couldn't eat inside the arena :( boohoo.... who made up that rule....yeah, but you can get hella drunk and eat lots of peanuts. The arena was very clean though.

I guess that's all for now. It's getting late and my brain is zapping into another zone.

I wrote a paper for a class

I wrote a paper for a class on bullfight food, I wish I could find it, it was an anthropological look at food and rituals of the fiest abrava in Ecuador. I love food too!

Food is great... "Gourmet a'la Bull"

That's awesome! When you find it, post it so we can read it. I'd love to read your take on food served at bullfights. We can be the "Siskel and Ebert" for "Gourmet a'la Bull". Sounds like a plan.... I'm going to start on it right away!

Speaking of food, now I'm craving for something to eat. I'm staring at a chocolate pie right now... I shouldn't, but I'm going to cuz it's lookin' really good and my stomach is grumbling at me... hee hee.

We were recently at the Laton Festa Bullfight on Monday, May 15th and right after the event, we get to eat with the committee, forcados, bullfighters, etc.... everyone and anyone who was part of the event.

Anyway, the food was great. They had this beef dish that was just melting in my mouth. They had other foods, but I concentrated on the beef.

Then there was dessert... my fav part. I was eyeing the strawberry cream pie. They served the first one which was a chocolate cake, but I later realized it had flan with it. So when I finally got my pie, something tasted like pepper. Oh my, it was killing my taste buds. I ate what I could (which was the remainder of the whip cream and pie crusts). Then the pepper taste came back again. It was driving me insane until I realized that it was from my napkin. The napkin was enclosed in one of those packaging with the silverware, napkin, salt and pepper. I guess the pepper seeped through its package and got all over my napkin. Mystery solved!

I am now eating pork rinds instead of the chocolate pie..... this is worst snack.... eeek.... but so good. I'll need to get me some vinegar w/garlic and I'll be set for the evening.

Thanks! This was fun!

p.s.
now I'm feeling sick from all of the fat... yuck!
