Patricia Pellen :: Cavaleira/Rejoneadora :: The French Bullfighter

Patricia Pellen is an amazing woman and female bullfighter that I know and have seen. She bullfights on horseback and trains horses.

Due to our language barrier, I didn't get to know her as good as I wanted to. After a few years of Patricia traveling back and forth between France and California, she eventually learned to speak more English. She also speaks Spanish, but I don't think that my 7th grade Spanish was quite up to par. So I communicated the all-time international way.... smile, nod, laugh, giggle, etc., etc. With that and a few basic Spanish, Portuguese, and French words, we functioned quite well and happily.



Her parents are wonderful and gives so much care and support towards Patricia and her love for horses and bullfighting. I first met her mom when she came with Patricia to accompany her during one of her bullfights here in California. Two close friends friends came also, Gigi and her husband.

It was a fun-filled week with bullfights, shopping, and lots of driving. I'm usually the driver when we entertain many of our visitors from abroad.



I met her father in Portugal during one of the Horse Fiestas in November. A very cold time of the year in Golega and it was as if I was back in the 1800's. I was busy getting cold, so I did not take too many photos at the time. Her father Gerald Pellen is very well known in the horse and bullfighting community. He is a former rejoneo himself since the age of 15 and has dedicated his entire life to breeding Iberian horses for bullfighting.

I would love to write more, but I'll just let you read what others have written and also read a Q&A (in French and English) with Patricia.
